The barometer is 29.7, temperature 60 degrees; 20 degrees higher than yesterday morning. Visibility 20 miles, ceiling 6,000 broken, slight wind from the north.

Yesterday, a black bear caught my dog napping. I saw the bear coming onto the lawn in front of the kitchen window. Suddenly there was a growling, whirring noise and my dog, Max, tore out after the bear, ran him off the lawn and into the woods. Then he went back to sleep.

Good morning from Iniakuk Lodge

It's great to be back for the 2012 summer season. Unlike Fairbanks, the weather here is wonderful. We landed on June 12 to clear, warm weather, balmy wind and minimal mosquitoes.
